Friday the 13th is here! ...that means it’s the big day for you to turn in your Toe Tags to enter our raffle for fun and prizes, to commemorate our Post Mortem conclusion to the 13 Nights of Halloween.

Thursday, October 22	Zombie Walk & Flash Mob This October, THE DEAD SHALL RISE in Salem! We are invite all UNDEAD Salemites to join us for our Capital Zombie Walk. At 6pm, show up on the Capital steps in your own creative zombie gear-up. Shortly thereafter, we will crawl our way through Downtown Salem (eating brains along the way of course) to end up at Browns Towne Lounge to have a Zombie Jamboree, with live music and Halloween artwork! The event is free and open to all (Browns Towne itself is 21+ however). Let’s show Salem how the dead live! (Need to learn Zombification?) Sunday, October 25	Mad Scientist's Chemistry Set The Williamette Chemistry Club joins up with the Willamette Poi Fire Spinners to have a night of mayhem and madness. They have put together this event where they do all the crazy stuff with chemical that you wish they would have done in science class. Explosions, colored fire, burning ice, launched gummi bears....It's all here. This event is fun for EVERY AGE. What kid or adult doesnt' like watching explosions?? And what's more, they will be joined by the Willamette Poi Fire Spinners!! Monday, October 26	Pumpkin Carving Hey families!! Come on over to the WAC and carve your Porch Masterpieces with Jeanine. Learn fancy tricks or treat yourself to a fun afternoon with other Halloween maniacs! This is a free walk-in event, co-sponsored by the Willamette Art Center and the Culture Shock Community Project. We'll have tools to carve and clean your pumpkin, stencils and other goodies to help you with your design, and some useful tips for preserving and lighting your Jack-o-lantern for maximum effect! What To Bring We'll have everything you need to create a basic pumpkin, but if you have any of these (or you just don't want to have to wait your turn to use the tools!), feel free to bring along: * Your favorite pumpkin * Regular pumpkin carving tools if you have them * Potato peeler * Small flashlight * Can of Lysol or similar antiseptic spray * Vaseline (?)(!! Tuesday, October 27	Bump & Shiver Scavenger Hunt Grab the kids and come downtown to go to 13 local Salem downtown businesses to discover a secret in each. You'll have to follow clues to figure out which business is which. Great fun for the kids!! Meet on TUESDAY - OCTOBER 27th at 4pm at the lower level of the Reed Opera House! Wednesday, October 28	Haunted Salem Salem has a lot of history (some of it dark and sordid) and it has been around a very long time, so it only goes to logic that there would be a whole HOST of Ghosts floating around our fair burg. OPHIR Paranormal Investigators will come together with stories, videos, and a presentation that will tell you just what goes BUMP in the night. Sunday, November 1	Pumpkin Smash It's the day after Halloween. Sure, that pumpkin was cute when you first carved it, but now it sits there, smug, rotting on the front porch. Frankly, it's time to wipe that pumpkins silly grin off it's face. Grab your pumpkin, and perhaps an implement of destruction (nothing sharp please!), come out to FORDYCE FARMS and put it to its death in our PUMPKIN KILL. Fun for all ages. You get to destroy a pumpkin, and they get to use the innards as mulch for the next years crop. We call that win/win. Monday, November 2	Day of the Dead Celebration (Día de los Muertos) On November 2nd, the Latino community invites the Salem community together to share in on of their most special ceremonies: El Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Day_of_the_dead Come to Captiol Mall at 6pm for the processional and celebration.
